Dr. Mel Simone in the Department of Psychology at the University of Colorado Denver Campus is looking for 1-2 part-time, professional research assistant(s) on a one-year, limited-term contract. Notably, the position(s) is externally funded and cannot be renewed. 
The candidate(s) will work on mixed-methods and community-engaged research study focused on eating disorder prevention among sexual and gender minority populations. The candidate(s) must be willing to work both independently and in an interdisciplinary team of community partners (e.g., clinicians, activists). 
Professional Research Assistant 
What you will do:

  • Conduct phone screenings to evaluate participant eligibility (50% of role)
  • Work on data collection and participant recruitment efforts, identify new avenues for study recruitment (20% of role)
  • Support PI in the submission of IRB protocols and grant applications that enable the conduct of human subjects research focused on sexual and gender minority health equity (10% of role)
  • Contribute to/co-author research publications (10% of role)
  • Coordinate and facilitate community advisory board meetings in partnership with the PI (10% of role)

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in psychology, public health, or STEM field
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a research setting; AND

  • Experience working with sexual and gender minority populations, preferably within community spaces; AND
  • Experience conducting data analyses and/or completion of relevant statistics coursework

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working with sexual and/or gender minority populations in research and/or clinical settings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated competence in equity, intersectionality, OR health disparities frameworks

Conditions of Employment

  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
  • This position requires an onsite presence on campus at least 1 day a week.

  • This position may be performed in a hybrid or remote environment, requiring the ability to work effectively in a remote setting. This includes maintaining a dedicated workspace free of excessive noise or distractions, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to participate in virtual meetings for extended periods. Employees must be able to independently manage time, remain stationary for prolonged computer-based work, and transport necessary equipment (such as a laptop and peripherals) between their remote work location and the office as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $30,000 – 35,000 at 0.5 FTE.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
